Mrs HK Joshi is the present Chairperson and Managing Director at Shipping Corporation of India. She also holds the additional charge of Director (Finance) in the company. Besides this, Mrs. Joshi holds the additional charges of MD, Indian Ports Global Ltd.; CMD, India Ports Global Chabahar Free Zone; and Director, Inland and Coastal Shipping Ltd. She is also on the Board of seven other companies while also being on various Board committees.
Being the first woman to hold the office of CMD Shipping Corporation of India, Mrs. Joshi has nearly 40 years of corporate experience and over six years of Board level experience. She has also held other multiple charges at the Board level since she joined SCI on 5th February 2015 as Director (Finance).
She is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Life Member of the Institute of Public having an impeccable academic record with a string of qualifications.
Her outstanding work and contribution have won her various laurels and awards during her career which can be accessed on SCIs website. A significant one which needs a mention is her recognition by TradeWinds as the third global luminary out of nine recognised as ‘Women of Steel’ controlling the largest merchant fleets in shipping by gross tonnage. Her strategic vision accompanied by an aptitude for risk-taking contributed to creating a landmark achievement in the national and global maritime history when a first-ever ‘All Women Officers’ Sailing’ was executed on board the tanker m.t. Swarna Krishna on 7th March 2021 which is hailed as a historic event making the nation proud. This was the first-ever merchant cargo vessel to have achieved this feat.
